Q: What version of HITRACK should I use?
A: The HITRACK Family of EHDI Data Management products has many possible configurations.

The HITRACK 3.5 Series is a time-proven product offering maximum functionality for Windows desktops installations.

The HITRACK 4 Series is the cutting edge of EHDI Data Management offering task-oriented user guidance and maximum flexibility available including a Web Companion version.

These two series can be used together to meet the needs of your EHDI program. Data files from the HITRACK 3.5 series can be imported into the HITRACK 4 series.

Q: Is Web enabled software better?
A: Not nessesarily.
We provide Windows desktop and Web versions of the HITRACK 4 Series to best serve the needs of your site.
Users need not use Web browsers to access remotely administered central databases.

We strongly suggest that State or Regional coordinators review our Considerations for Web Based Data Management documentation.

Q: Is HITRACK compliant with HIPAA Regulations?
A: HITRACK has effective safeguards that make it compliant with HIPAA privacy and security legislation. A few examples follow:

  • Password protected user-specific access to program functions.
  • State-of-the-art encryption technology for secure transfers of data.
  • Logs all data transfers for auditing purposes.
  • Secure backup of data transfer files.

  • Q: Does HITRACK use encryption?
    A: The data transfer files for both HITRACK Windows Series are encrypted using the RSA Public/Private Key method using a 512-bit key.
    The transfer of data with the HI*TRACK 4 Web Companion can be done over Secure Socket Layer (SSL) with a 128-bit key.
    Q: Can HITRACK load patient data from my Hospital/State Data System? What about lists of Phyisicians?
    A: Yes. Using our guidelines specified in our Patient Information System Linking Document IT professionals can create an input file compatible with HITRACK.
    IT professionals can also use our Importing Doctor Information into HITRACK document gives the file specification for importing doctors into HITRACK.
